Topics: In addition to the chance to meet others engaged in public and nonprofit service in the Middle Tennessee region, we have a few special items planned for the breakfast.  We will announce two new scholarships TN-ASPA has created this year to support students from regional Universities who are interested in public service, and we will hear a brief presentation by the first recipient of one of these awards – the Student Conference Travel Award. Cliff Lippard, who is completing the PhD program at Tennessee State University in public administration this semester, will provide us with a brief, informal overview of his research into “Intergovernance” and its relevance to practitioners. Cliff received a $500 award from our chapter to assist with his travel to the national ASPA conference in March, where he presented his research.  We will also recognize the service of Dr. Bruce Rogers, who retires this year after 40 years of service to the public administration community in Middle Tennessee through his career at TSU, and who also is a past president of TN-ASPA. Our second new award, the Rogers Public Service Textbook Scholarship, is named in his honor.  We will also celebrate the chapter’s work this past year and look ahead to 2012-2013 – and all in time to get you to work by 9am!
