Lunchtime Lectures

During the period from September through November and January through April, TN-ASPA offers a series of “Third Thursday” Lunchtime Lectures. These informal sessions feature speakers of interest to nonprofit and public professionals, as well as occasional networking and other special events. 2016-2017 Series on “Closing the Gap: Social Equity in Public Administration”:

  • September 15: Herbert Brown with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) will speak on their social equity in higher education initiatives. THEC is the State’s coordinating agency for higher education.

  • October 20: Wade Munday with Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON) will speak on Immigration and Imagination. JFON provides affordable, high-quality immigration legal services to immigrants, educates the public and faith-based communities about issues related to immigration, and advocates for immigrant rights.

  • November 17: The American Heart Association will speak on our theme of social equity in public administration and health advocacy in the volunteer state.

  • January 19: Carrie Plummer with Vanderbilt will speak on our theme of social equity in public administration as it relates to healthcare and the accumulation of medications in the home. Click here to learn more.
