Fall 2013 Third Thursday Lunchtime Lecture Series: Tennessee’s Children

This month our fall Lunchtime Lecture series begins, with topics centered on Tennessee’s children.   • September 19: Linda O’Neal, Executive Director of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, will speak on TCCY and the Kids Count Database. Ms. O’Neal has been involved with services or advocacy for children in Tennessee for over 40 years, and has been TCCY Executive Director since 1988. TCCY’s primary mission is advocacy to improve the quality of life for Tennessee children and families.
  • October 17: Our speaker will be Rebecca Wright on “The Common Core State Standards: Tennessee’s Implementation Plan.” Ms. Wright is with the Tennessee Department of Education’s Division of Curriculum and Instruction. Her past positions include teaching U.S. history in Florida public schools and researching K-12 education policy issues for the Tennessee Comptroller’s Offices of Research and Education Accountability.
